One Kingfisher To Another

Walking along a familiar river side channel always provided me with a safe place to enjoy river bed diversity and small stream authenticity. Thick cottonwood forest along with thriving dogwood always presented color any season. Clear, winding water diverted from the mainstream river allured my attention for many years, and we have shared many experiences every time of year, portraying new sights every time. Great things of natural wonder as big as the open sunsets. As pure as a wonderful moose crossing the stream while I angle. And everything in between that makes life around a trout stream home. Muskrat, beaver, and mink swim up and down the sides doing their lively duties as stream natives. Whitetail deer frequent the area in noticeable tracks. If one listens close enough, they can hear the community of field mice moving under the snow and dry grass.

The soothing chitter of the Kingfisher flying overhead a beautiful sunset is a greeting between fisherman and a reflection of myself. My spirit fly's in the sky, while my mind and eyes look to the stream below. The Kingfisher only takes what they respect and need, then it is natures decision whether to give or not. Every Brown trout, Rainbow Trout, Whitefish, and Grayling I've caught here though the years has always been in the passion of being one with nature. Being a pro-active inhabitant in a changing society, and mastering being an honest Kingfisher.

It's not whether you catch fish or not. It's how you earn what's gifted to you through what's respected. So, as the Kingfisher fly's overhead the golden sunset, I salute them as a reflection of myself. Soul in the sky, eyes always looking in the water for great wonders to enjoy, one Kingfisher to another.......
