Winter Wonderland At The Ranch part 2

As the end of February came, so did a heat wave to attack our beloved snow. Temperatures that averaged 10°F or lower, merged into a swift warm trend of 35°F to 50°F for many days, turning our snow into a slushy gumbo each day with little rest. Before the snow was diminished to uncertainty, my dad and I got to enjoy it. Equipped with a kayak, snowboard, and plenty of enthusiasm, we visited an old friend we didn't visit often. It's an old fire break road which is steep, full of snow and a high fun expectation when sledded down. What could go wrong?

There's a crust layer on top of the remaining snow. From melting during day, then freezing slightly at night. This makes the snow fast, and harder to cut. At the top of the hill, we look down at our challenge ahead. Ripples of drifts, and a long wind down to the bottom, challenge accepted. After wishing each other good luck, our first descent was a very thrilling as each vessel was all our own to manipulate and what was to come was a mystery. Cheers and smiles that express only true fun's magnitude was met when we survived our first trek. We had so much fun, that we definitely went for another run, now we knew what to expect.

After a long hike around to the top again, we were ready for a faster, even more thrilling trip down. Even when precautions were taken, that second run sure was fast! Snow was flying and hitting packed trail sure was exciting, and scary too! Which made it all way worth while. All when I think I'm gonna make it unscathed , I cut deep into the thawing snow at the end, like a blade stuck into the mud, wipeout!! All fun and games are embellished through learning some.Winter towards it's pinnacle at the Joyner Ranch, taking in all fun snow has to offer!!
