Where snowdrifts form, and the land is full of snow, lots of the outside world turns quiet as the temperatures plunge frigid. Survival from the cold makes winter a hard and slow delirium for many. Outside projects "freeze" in place until spring thaws out your motivation. Days looking out your window, waiting for warmth to rid the cold away. The wait is longer as one sits waiting for green to come.

A northern hemisphere winter without snow is like a lake with little water. It's only fun when there's lots of it to play in. Wind has carved intricate shapes into the snow, creating a landscape which is stunning and appreciative as it creates a world that is all to its own wonder. As a snowboard or kayak floats over the snow, the whistle of cold air rushing past us draws out a childish thrill of excitement that keeps a spirit warm through the cold months.

Both my dad and I strap snowshoes to our feet. Snowboard in hand and kayak pulled, we ventured to new destinations looking for those cool hills to go down. Each hill has its own character, and its always a whole different world at the top. Dodging junipers and carving drifts made from them, a big smile is withheld the whole time all the way down to each end. Laughs that withstand the pictures taken, and memories worth making every time.......
